The Conventual Sweets Factory of Arouca recreates the traditional production of conventual and regional pastries every day, keeping alive a legacy that has passed through generations until it reached the hands of Jorge Bastos.

Arca Doce Confectionery, founded in 1974 in Arouca, is a tea room and café known for its high-quality, homemade pastry products. Its mission is to offer fresh and delicious sweets, with specialties including Bolo-Rei, the region’s traditional Pão-de-Ló, and Passadiços – a unique pastry exclusive to the establishment. It operates with a focus on excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Founded in 1937, with the aim of selling wine and sandwiches to the people of Arouca and travelers who went to work in the tungsten mines during World War II, Casa Testinha’s main dish is fried chicken, as well as virgins and the mug of wine better known as meia paiveira. It is currently in the 4th generation of the family and has always been in the same place.
